Without a doubt, this is one of the worst financial times in our nation's history. Our unemployment rates are skyrocketing and people are having trouble maintaining their ability to pay for rent, food, and close to their family. Some of the hardest hit were single mothers that are doing the best that they can with the limited resources that may be available to them. This current administration is looking out for single mothers and wants them to earn college degrees in order to better their current financial situation. Here are a few ways that the new stimulus package can help single moms earn a college degree.
The first thing you need to do is actually apply for the money. The current Pell Grant is part of this package in which thousands of dollars are allocated to those that qualify so that they can enroll in a community college. This would allow them to earn a free two year college degree which can further their way toward a new and better paying job.
Second, you should be thinking of the degree that you want to earn. Some of us are good at a variety of things. You may not like your job, but you may have hobbies that you find enjoyable and some colleges may offer degrees so that you can follow your path of heart and find the career that you actually want to have.
Most single moms are doing what they can and working at jobs that they may not like but it allows them to support their family. They do this tirelessly but if given the opportunity, these strong women can earn their college degree in the evening or at their leisure using distance learning classes offered by their local community colleges.
Over 12 billion dollars has been allocated for the purpose of educating single moms and moving them into higher paying careers that will not only help slow the unemployment rate in this country but benefit those women that are struggling and move them into higher paying positions. Do the right thing today and apply for grant money from the stimulus package that will allow you to earn a free college education in the next few years.
